Introduction
A patent is a form of intellectual property right (IPR) which gives its owner the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, and importing & exporting his/her invention/work. Basically a patent is a grant of protection for an invention by the applicant.
There are three kinds of patents: (i) Design Patents (ii) Utility Patents (iii) Technology Patents. For granting the patent the invention must be a “new and useful” in terms of process, machine, manufacture or product.Application for patent needs to be filed to Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, along with the supporting documents.
